Practice
Steve graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Victoria in 1999. He was called to the BC Bar in 2000 and worked at a boutique law firm in North Vancouver with an emphasis on insurance litigation before joining Paine Edmonds LLP in 2003.
As a litigator with over two decades of experience, Steve has appeared as counsel in dozens of trials, both jury and judge alone, in the Provincial Court of BC and Supreme Court of BC. He is also very experienced in resolving cases through alternative dispute resolution, such as formal and informal mediation. Steve is a senior member of the firm’s Insurance Law, Disability Law, Employment Law, and Wills & Estates Law practice groups. He currently serves as the firm’s Administrative Partner.

Personal Notes
Steve was born and raised in Vancouver. He attended high school in the Lower Mainland where he participated in wrestling and excelled in academics. In senior high, he began training in freestyle kickboxing which he pursued passionately into his 20’s. After returning to Vancouver from UVic, Steve discovered a passion for downhill mountain biking on the North Shore.
Steve is also a long-time performance-car and World Rally Car enthusiast. He grew up working on and modifying cars with his father and friends. Over the pandemic shutdown, Steve rekindled his love of cars and driving by building and modifying a sports car for tracking events. Steve is happily married and lives with his family, including two giant dogs, in the suburbs of Vancouver.
